We hear those sleigh bells jinglin’, ring ting tinglin’ to 2016. (Sorry we would’ve quoted a New Year’s song but we couldn’t think of one) As Christmas is fast approaching, businesses are turning their heads towards 2016 and preparing for the coming year.

We know we all have the same business resolution: to make 2016 the best yet, but we wanted to help anyone who is looking to streamline their online marketing efforts with our top 5 tips that we apply to all of our clients.

Since we also know you have a lot of planning to do, we won't waste your time and get right to it!

1. Identify your audience.

We preach about this a lot, but if this is something that you haven’t ticked off your list, we recommend you do so. Clearly determining who you are selling to will help you determine where your customers spend their time online. Doing this, will maximize your time and effort to make sure your advertising is effective. Otherwise you might as well be shouting into an empty hallway.

2. Research your hashtags.

We think it’s a good idea to stay on top of these as much as possible. Hashtags are like cool hangout spots and you want to make sure you are there along with your customers so you can mingle. If you need a refresher on how to use hashtags just click here.

3. Create a content calendar.

Not sure if we’ve brought this up before (our bad if we haven’t), but we are firm believers that this is one of the most effective ways of organizing your online presence. It’s important to break up your promotional content with other types of valuable content such as quotes (people love these!), articles and helpful tips. Your content calendar acts as a visual sounding board to make sure you are keeping things fresh.

4. Boost those Facebook posts!

We will sing about Facebook advertising until - well, when it doesn’t work anymore. But since it works, we are going to keep telling you about how amazing it is. We’ve talked about it here and there, but will remind you again, advertising on Facebook is extremely targeted and has really helped our clients grow. You can advertise for “Likes” to grow brand recognition, advertise products to boost sales, or drive traffic to your website. Any of those would be a good option, so experiment with what works best for your brand. May we make a suggestion? Choose pleasing and approachable images. People will be much more likely to engage and respond.

5. Make sure to take time to review your analytics.

If you haven’t already, you should set up Google Analytics on your website. It’s completely FREE and very informative. Facebook and Twitter also have free analytic reporting and it’s amazing how useful this information is! It will help you see what content your customers are responding to best and where they go on your website so you can make sure you are optimizing your time.

If you ever have more questions about advertising, analytics, or want someone to help you with your content strategy, we would love to help you. Just contact us here!

Happiest Holidays!
