Do you have an Instagram account for your business?
Well - you better, because truthfully it’s a really great way to grow your business.
We understand you may have a few hesitations, and we mean this as politely as we can, but it’s time to GET OVER IT.
Because Instagram isn’t going anywhere – and the longer you wait to join the club, the more opportunities you’re going to miss out on.
Ready to get started? Here’s some good news - it’s free and simple to set up! So we thought we would create this guide on how to get started.
First order of business - Name: Don’t use your own! This isn’t a personal account; so try to keep it easy for people to find you by using your business’s name.
Already taken? You can try your twitter or Facebook name. If that still doesn’t work, well then, that proves you’re late to the party and you could try tacking your city or state onto the end.
Download the app to your phone and create a log in. That was an easy one.
Once you’ve got all that set up, it’s important to make sure your account is public! If it’s not, others wont be able to see how amazing you are!
Connect your Facebook. IG makes it easy for you to share your pics. Once you’ve posted the image click on the 3 in the bottom right corner to find your “share” option.
Look legit. You’ll want to get on there and start socializing but we recommend making sure you have at least 10 photos before you do. It will give others a better sense of who you are and encourage them to follow you.
Make sure your pics have a high resolution and are clear! Bright, clear, and symmetrical images get the most attention! More so than any filter IG or any other app can provide. On that note, pixelated images are never a good idea. When importing from a digital camera make sure you keep the resolution high!
Post consistently. There isn’t a best time or perfect average of posts per day, but if you consistently update your content, your fans will know when to seek you out!
#Hashtag! We already preached your ear off about hashtags (if you need a refresher click here) but with IG there are no rules. We suggest taking time out of your day to research anything that is trending and see if they can apply to you.
*Remember that all hashtags go in a separate comment, immediately after posting.
Interact! Don’t forget, you have to give if you want to receive! Want comments? Make sure you take time out to comment on others posts!
Add Calls To Action (CTA). You want real targeted customers? Well make sure you give people the opportunity to tag a friend who might be interested in your product service, or the content that you just shared.
Enable notifications. Well, at first. Once you become popular they will get annoying, but it’s handy to know when you receive a comment so you can make sure to comment back!
Spend time on your bio. Make sure to list who you are and what services you offer. If you found more than one person had a variation of your business name, this is important to declare who you are!
Web address. This is a relatively new feature on IG and you should use it to direct people back to your website. If you have a new blog post, you can always feature that link to direct people to the post! Just like this!
Phew! That was a long one. So instead of finishing with something witty, we are just going to tell you to get a move on!
