A Simple Lesson About Emails: Why They Are Important To Your Business

If you are reading this post there is a good chance you are a social media-ist.

(Quite possible we just made up that word)

You might write your own blog, develop content for businesses, or maintain platforms for your own.

Regardless of how you’ve become a social media-ist (we’re rolling with it), you are using it for various reasons; to reach your target audience, generate traffic to your site, build a loyal following, etc.

But if we all took a minute to be honest with ourselves, we aren’t just using social media for fun. We are using it for other more important reasons such as: making money, making money, oh and… making money.

As important as it is to maintain your social platforms, it’s even MORE important to nurture your email list. If you truly, madly, deeply (please get that reference), want to make money, you need to give your email list more attention than you give your Netflix on a Sunday.

Social media apps might come and go, but people will always stay connected to their emails. And it’s even easier now since we can all easily access our email on our phones.

Sending out e-blasts once, twice, even ten times a month in some cases, is a great reminder to your community that you still exist and want a relationship with them! You could easily double your traffic on certain days by just sending out a newsletter.

If you need more of a monetary visualization follow me on this one:

Every email subscriber you have could equate to at least $1 in sales. Having 1,000 subscribers could generate $1,000 in sales. But why aim for only a thousand when you could aim for ten thousand or one hundred thousand?

Did you know there are some blogs out there earning millions of dollars a year? Yes – it may sound outrageous, but it’s true.

How do they do that? An incredibly powerful email list. That’s how.

You might have the coolest, most badass product or service to sell, but if you don’t have anyone to share it with – how will you ever spread the word? That’s why every email address is an asset. The more the merrier.

While having tons of social media followers is awesome, getting those followers to join your email list builds a deeper relationship. One that says, “Hey – I trust you, I like you, and I want to know more about your product, service, etc.”

People are more likely to click to your website through an emailed link, than to sit down and type out your website address in their spare time.

So take the time to get people to sign up! If you want to announce a new product, promotion, or service – email it! You’ll have a greater response rate.

Don’t get us wrong, the relationship you have with your subscribers and the quality of your services and products still matter, but the monetization will come from your list.
